April 2007
a few weeks in Bulawayo

Bulawayo is a charming city in southern Zimbabwe.

It was good to see old friends in Bulawayo, including dear Tumbo.

I spent a few days working with the Dabane Trust.

Based in Bulawayo, Dabane provides water supplies in very remote and arid areas of Zimbabwe.

They had tractors for making dams, and pumps for extracting water from dry river beds.

I'm setting up a website at www.dabane.co.zw for them (which will be online from May).

Back at Hlekweni, it was time for the cows (and goats) to come home.

Aaron is a rarely spotted member of staff, as he's out herding from dawn til dusk.

Back at Hlekweni, it was time for the cows (and goats) to come home.

A few volunteers have made an enormous difference at Hlekweni over the past year.

Blossom has hung this charming reminder in David's kitchen, while Hazel brightened the Hlekweni grounds with art.
