back on the coast
It was good to return to the coast near Watamu, after my last visit two months earlier.

Venus was close to a cresent moon, on the night I arrived

a mixture of natural and man-made flotsam and jetsam littered the crab-patrolled shoreline

a massive green turtle had come up on the shore to lay her eggs, so we walked along the coast in the starlight to see her

counting eggs as they are laid, the 21st century way

Kahindi and a volunteer from Watamu Turtle Watch take measurements

I hadn't fully appreciated the size this type of turtle can reach - it was humbling to be present at this ancient ritual
