We form a diaspora: a strong, dispersed
community affected by migration and exile.
Mirroring my own family, the majority
are from Lohana and Oshwal groups.

from Gujarat within the Empire of India,
via Africa (from Abyssinia and Zanj
in the east to kwaZulu in the south),
and territories from Burma to Surinam.
Not simply Indian, African or Western,
and trying to learn from & harness the
best from all the traditions we know.
