A. Objectif de l'action envisagée :
Strengthen the environmental education process within Amazonia in order to contribute to the reduction of the Amazonian Region socio-environmental degradation.

B. Description :
PEDUC (Projeto de Educaço Ambiental) will promote projects originating from grassroots organizations and municipal, state and federal public institutions as support for environmental education initiatives. Three lines of action are proposed: a pedagogical component, a dissemination and information component and a community and environment component.

C. Justification :
The Environmental Education will strengthen the ecological orientation of the field actions of other parts of the program and enhance their overall impact across the region.

D. Modalités d'exécution :
Funding under this project will cover primarily the costs of training and dissemination. On the other hand 4 MECU will be allocated to the fund for environmental education projects.

E. Coût et structure de financement :
Total cost amount to 6.2 MECU. They will be shared by the European Commission (5 MECU), the Rain Forest Trust Fund (1 MECU) and the Brazilian government (200.000 ECU).
