B7-6201/96-20/VIII/FOR "Agroforestry Training Programme at Ilesha School, Nigeria" by Pro-Natura International (1996)
Objectives:
The main objective is to train young farmers to agroforestry technologies, concentrating on the issues of woody/non-woody intercropping and soil conservation methods especially on food crop fields and in cash crop plantations. The underlying goal is to promote the adoption of improved production techniques that are acceptable to the farmers, sustainable and economically viable.
Results:
The trainers are mobilised and competent; 120 young farmers, both men and women, are trained in 2 years (60 per year); they get the knowledge and competencies to plan, manage and develop family farms by using agroforestry. The efficiency and effectiveness of the farm will be improuved and the increased income will be sustainable.
