Objective : Develop an integrated trade development strategy for the timber sector for increased political support from relevant institutions.
Result : Increased understanding on trade development strategy with recommendations for action according to the particular comparative advantages of the EU in trade development intervention. The final outcome of this study will complement the issue on the adjustment of mandates and process for ACP timber market requirements.
Activities : Review the relevant provisions of Lome IVbis and the forthcoming EU Trade Development Strategy, and other relevant documentation on existing EC instruments for trade and investment support. Assess the overall appropriateness of the report on a Trade Development Strategy for the ACP Timber and Timber Products sector with the objective of improving sustainable competitiveness. Design a Trade Development Strategy for the ACP Timber and Timber Products which is primarily orientated towards market growth and competitiveness, subject to sustainable development considerations.
