Objective : To develop capacity for implementing sustainable Collaborative Forest Management in Borana (CFM), Ethiopia.
Beneficiaries : Direct users of forest and/or forest products : agro-pastoralist villages in and around the forest; nomads and pastoralists. Indirect users of forest products in the urban areas.
Result : Collaborative Forest Management (CFM) plans and management practices established for at least 15 Pastoralist Associations, for the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry Department and other institutions.
Activities : Establish and implement Collaborative Forest Management (CFM). Conduct aerial photographs and participatory inventories, forest studies, participatory land use planning. Establish alternative forms of livelihood: analysis of stakeholders and local institutions, promote Employment Generation Schemes (EGS). Agricultural support. Provide fund for capital investment and fund for income generation.
