Objective : To improve the capacity for conservation and sustainable management in the Central African moist forest ecosystem
Beneficiaries : Governments in Central African region, NGOs, local forest managers and users, the private sector
Result : Strengthened human capacity for the development and implementation of policies, strategies and plans for the sustainable management of the forest in Central Africa.
Activities : Analyse the problems of conservation and sustainable management of biodiversity in the region. Evaluate its institutional needs. Identify and analyse the pilot mechanisms for participation of target groups. Determine the role of the target groups. Evaluate the needs of the national contacts, ministry personnel, forest managers and users, the private sector and NGOs. Design and implement a training programme to improve interventions in the forestry sector. Reinforce contacts with member states and partners of the conference. Prepare and organise the third Conference on the moist forest Ecosystems of Central Africa as well as the follow-up of their recommendations and resolutions. Organise thematic multidisciplinary meetings. Set up a documentation system and distribution of information. Publish a review on tropical humid forest of Central Africa.
