| The project is designed to run for 12 years and aims at testing and introducing methods for rehabilitation and protection of the tropical rainforest in Yunnan Province. During Phase I (1997-2000) activities are restricted to Xishuangbanna District. Main objectives of the project are: participatory land-use planning, development of a system for the protection and sustaible use of tropical forests adapted to local conditions (ethnic minorities) and the improvement of inter-institutional cooperation. |
