The Forest Programm deals with the management and multiple use of the Hoduranian forests. Within the programm the AFOCO component aims at participatory designing models for a sustainable management of forest resources. In this context 3 villages are supported in communal forestry management and, in cooperation with PROFOR, the national forest department (AFE-COHDEFOR) in the management of government forests. PROFOR also gives advice to the National Forest Action Plan (PAF), the Agenda Forestal Hondureña as well as the Ministry of Planning (SECPLAN) and AFE-COHDEFOR in the field of forest policy. Another component of the programme, CAFOR, supports the forestry school ESNACIFOR in training aspects. The projects Cerro Celaque and Rio Platano improve the capacities of the nature conservation department of AFE-COHDEFOR and assists in the protection of the core zones as well as bufferzone development of these areas. Rio Platano is a cooperation project between KfW and GTZ
