Project Objectives:
To visit the laboratories of INPA (Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazonia) and assess the analytical capabilities and requirements needed to tackle the samples which will be generated by the Forest Biomass and Nutrient research project. To make a detailed study of exact equipment, laboratory facilities and staff available for the proposed forest biomass and nutrient research project in the departmental laboratories of Agronomy, Silviculture, Phytochemistry and Ecology. To discuss with the heads of departments and senior technicians the methodology and analytical procedures to be used for the proposed project. To put together additional equipment and consumable lists and finalise the analytical work programme. To evaluate training needs and discuss the timings of training courses at NRI and dates of the next commissioning and training visit to INPA.
