PLAN's programme also encompasses projects concerned with environment and agriculture. In environmental improvement, PLAN will concentrate on laying ant-erosion lines, including the treatment of ravines and building small dams (called barrages), to reclaim and extend the bottom land around which villages cluster. The barrages are used to dam wadis, which catch rainwater, in Kongoussi PLAN will embark on a modest system of projects to irrigate 100 hectares of land. Plan will also help to establish tree nurseries and provide support to reforestation projects. In agriculture PLAN will undertake projects in agricultural training and credit, gardening, crop production and preservation and animal raising.
