Environmental education is not simply a means of transferring knowledge which describes a reality but it is a means to develop a critical consciousness for making informed desicions about relationships between the individual and the environmnet.

The recent establishment of the KORUP National Park and the proposed park at Dja require an extensive education programme to demonstrate the benefits to rainforest conservation; conservation which itself promotes economic well being through the sustained use of a complex of natural resources.

Project Objectives:
The objective of the project is to provide training in the design of public relations programmes to enable local people to perceive and experience the benefits deriving from the establishment of rainforest national parks and protected areas.

Intended Outputs:
environmnetal education programme developed within the formal education sector and at the end of three years the project will establish environmental education as an ongoing curriculum development programme within Cameroon and public awareness programme developed.programme
