Project Background:
ECAG currently provides animal production courses, educating and training agricultural
technicians, and also provides short courses to farmers. Full-time students at ECAG are
drawn from the Central American countries of Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala,
Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua and Panama.
Project Objectives:
Increase animal production and efficiency in Central America, Caribbean and South
American countries through training.
Increase revenue of small and large scale farmers.
Encourage farmers/workers to stay on the land.
Intended Outputs:
Consolidate teaching activities
Consolidate activities of Department of Relaciones Ganaderas.
Develop appropriate research activities.
Increase proportion of foreign students.
Attract other agencies to provide financial support.
Establish and consolidate link with CTVM.
Increased full-time student numbers.
Introducing five new full-time courses:
Faarm Business Management
Forestry & Wildlife Management
Ecotourism
Food Processing
Agricultural Business Administration
Greater programme of short courses.
