Project Objectives:
By way of the provision of a TCO in the Ghana Forestry Inventory and Management Project. The duties of the appointment will include: surveying and mapping the established timber production plantations in the high forest zone using satellite imagery and aerial photography carrying out inventories in the plantations in order to know the standing volume and increment of the major timber species: establishing permanent sample plots in the plantations setting up database of the successfully established plantations to provide data on area, species, age, increment and condition of the crop supervising the work of short term consultants on marketing and utilisation, soil survey and economics of plantations working out a long term development programme for timber production plantations based on the data obtained in the above surveys supervising the rehabilitation of the plantations that are worth saving and, training a counter part and provide on the job training for field staff.
