Project Background:
This project has provided two minor free-standing components to a major interdisciplinary Norwegian rain forest and resource management project in Sumatra.

Project Objectives:
The objectives of the project are: To provide a vegetation description of the study area, the major kinds of natural forest of bush fallows and of other disturbed forest A general ecological analysis of resource management options which synthesises the specific findings of other components of the overall project using detailed knowledge of Sumatran ecology and institutions.
