Project Background:
The DFID Animal Health Project (1989-1994) introduced to the Directorate of Animal Health new concepts of animal disease reporting systems and disease control planning. The project concentrated on developing the methodoogy and information technology, providing equipment, and training staff. The formal adoption and implementation of new procedures is now for the Government of Indonesia to carry through. However, current moves towards decentralisation and privatisation of veterinary services will require major adjustments to disease surveillance policy and systems.
