Project Background:
This project supported Amigos de Sian Ka'an (ASK), a local Mexican NGO, in efforts to promote, execute and support conservation actions, in an attempt to integrate conservation and development activities in the support (buffer) zone and the region around the Sian Ka'an Biosphere Reserve (SKBR).

Project Objectives:
The objective of the project is the management of forest resources, by introducing a management plan and cultivating nurseries.

Intended Outputs:
Develop activities designed to be compatible with the aims of the SKBR, and at the same time bringing some benefits to local communities in an attempt to involve them with the protection of the reserve, and with their own lands making the best use of the region's natural resources. Attempt to integrate the society of Quintana Roo into ASK's projects. Strengthen ASK as an institution in order to achieve its objectives.
