Project Objectives:
The wider objective is to raise standards of living through meeting basic needs for fuelwood,
fodder and timber and improving land husbandry. The immediate objectives are: To
strengthen capacity of District Forestry Offices to facilitate handling over of forests to
organised community user groups. Improved management of forest resource by user groups.
To improve land husbandry.
Intended Outputs:
Up to 16 user groups established in the 4 districts. Up to 48 monthly participative district
staff meetings in each district. 4 Annual District Forestry Staff Workshops one in each
district. One Community Leaders Seminar in each district. Silviculture. 5 new nurseries
established. 69 existing nurseries operating 775 ha of Community Afforestation planted 550
has of Community Afforestation beaten up 890 ha of Community Protected Format
demarcated, 20 ha of Community Protected Forest enriched. 240 seedlings distributed.
