Project Objectives:
The objective of the project is to encourage small scale sustainable forestry by providing training in sustainable forestry using the portable sawmill. Related to UKFSP's project in Papua New Guinea, Solomons Islands and Vanuatu in response to problems caused by non-sustainable timber production. Small scale sustainable forestry will be encouraged and 'walkabout sawmills' promoted. The project is already assessing environmental risks and providing training and timber yards are to be established.
