Project Objectives:
To participate as a member of IUCN mission to identify components of the Sri Lanka Forest Sector Development Programme which could be considered for additional DFID support, taking account of DFID's likely involvement in the Upper Mahaweli Forest Project and the envisaged support from the World Bank and other donors. Make recommendations on the most appropriate institutional channels for implementing expanded DFID assistance to the forestry sector. Indicate how the Forest Sector Development Programme and the activities proposed for further DFID assistance complement and support the activities to be undertaken under the Upper Mahaweli Forestry Project.
