Project Objectives:
The wider objectives of the project are: To improve yields of timber from plantation forests through better management and improved varieties To increase the availability of wood, at affordable prices, for fuel, fencing and building materials through better social forestry practices To improve the management of indigenous woodlands and their harvesting on sustainable basis. The immediate objectives are: To collate, analyse, evaluate and disseminate data resulting from past research in the fields of a) tree improvement and silviculture b) plantation management research c) ecology and management of indigenous forests.
